In the continuing effort to revitalize Downtown Nassau, the Government of The Bahamas conducted a demolition of the Levy Building on East Bay Street, July 21, 2025. The Levy Building formerly housed the Bahamas Agricultural and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) as a produce distribution centre. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation the Hon. Chester Cooper declared Monday’s demolition, and those achieved prior, as steady progress towards the goal of restoring Downtown Bay Street to become more attractive, and better represent of its historical importance.
