Committed to celebrating the young people and building their self esteem, Leon Lundy, Member of Parliament for Mangrove Cay, Central and South Andros, gave a special gift to each student in his constituency who graduated high school this year. He rewarded them for their hard work in completing high school by presenting them with graduation rings.
Mr Lundy wanted the students to know just how important they are to the community in which they live, as their success will ultimately benefit their community. He attended graduation ceremonies for the three high schools in his constituency – Mangrove Cay, Central Andros, and South Andros High Schools – where he presented a graduation ring to every 12th grade student who successfully completed high school. High flying achievers also received additional gifts, including laptops and monetary gifts for their hard work.
“These rings are a small token to mark a major milestone, and a reminder that I’ve walked this journey with you, every step of the way,” MP Lundy said.
“You are not just celebrating the end of your high school journey, you are marking the beginning of everything that lies ahead for you. As you take your next steps, I have no doubt that you will seize every opportunity that comes your way and shape your own path with confidence and purpose.”
MP Luindy also acknowledged the work of school administrators, teachers and parents: “You have supported these students through every challenge, encouraged them in their triumphs, and given them the tools they need to succeed. You’ve stood by them as mentors, guides, and cheerleaders… your pride in their achievements is palpable, and I hope you all share in the joy of this important milestone.”
The new graduates were excited to receive their graduation rings – a gift that many students in the country have not had the privilege of receiving when they left high school.
“Be proud,” Mr Lundy told the graduates, “Stay focused, and always remember that you carry the hopes of Andros with you”.
