Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis and Mrs. Davis recently attended an awards ceremony hosted by the Member of Parliament for Marathon, the Hon. Lisa Rahming. Constituents of Marathon were awarded for the contributions to community.
Mr. Davis spoke with reporters on the sidelines of the event. He said, “I feel very grateful and thankful to Minister Lisa Rahming for taking the time out to recognize those people in her community who have contributed so much to that community in essence keeping the community together. To be able to lift up the lives of others in your community that’s an important milestone and as we often say let’s give the flowers to those who have done much while they are alive instead of just speaking of it after they are gone.”
The Hon. Lisa Rahming explained the significance of the awards ceremony is to celebrate the people who have given back to the constituency. She also acknowledged that not every person deserving of recognition was in the room. Rahming said, “our job is not completed. I believe in celebrating people when they are living and giving them their flowers while they can just smile and say thank you. And so its just a way of giving back and letting them know I see you, I see what you do, I recognize you and not only me but this government.”
The event was held at the convention center at the Baha Mar Resort.
