The Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training hosted an awards ceremony on Monday to recognize top performers in the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) and Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) examinations.
The keynote address was delivered by Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin. She told those gathered, “we know that what they have achieved it was not by happenstance, I’m sure they’re very smart but it required a lot more than just being very smart. It required preparation, planning, time management, sacrifice and a high level of discipline and a pursuit of excellence and determination. And so we are really celebrating, for me, the achievements but its the underlying foundational facts which have led to this achievement.”
The Minister highlighted H. O. Nash student, Zante Ferguson who achieved 12 As in the BJC exam. A student of Jack Hayward High School received the Marjorie Davis Award for top performance in the BGCSEs.
