Minister of Labour, the Public Service and National Insurance the Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle, along with the management and staff of the National Insurance Board (NIB), commemorated the organization’s 52nd anniversary at a church service held at Bahamas Harvest Church.
During the service, Minister Glover-Rolle urged employees to remain committed. She said, “behind every contribution, behind every claim, behind every benefit, there is a person, there is a family, there is a story. I want us as workers, as colleagues at the National Insurance Board, to remember that we should never get caught up in the process. Because when we get caught up in the process, sometimes we lose sight of the person behind the case. The work of the National Insurance Board carries a very heavy responsibility. The decisions we make, the service we provide affect people’s livelihoods, their dignity, and their peace of mind. We must, therefore, approach that work with compassion, with professionalism, and with integrity.”
NIB Senior Manager of Public Affairs and Communications Nikolette Elden spoke with ZNS News outside of the service about the new leadership team at NIB. She said, “with the new election cycle, there was a new board recently appointed, and I am confident—and I think those around us are very confident—of that leadership team and their mandate. They just had an inaugural meeting a few weeks ago, and that mandate is very strong.”
