New Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce President, Dillon Knowles shared his excitement about his new role with ZNS News on Wednesday.
Knowles said, “there’s an extreme amount of work to be done with the enthusiastic board members that have been elected alongside of me that we will make a huge dent in it during our period as the board for the Chamber. “
According to Knowles Grand Bahama is the only island in the country that has eco sensitive assets on the eastern end of the island, a city in the middle and heritage represented in the west. “So it has always been a blank canvas for which we can do lots of things. What we have to do is figure out how to collectively put out heads together, sing from the same sheet of music and proceed to implement the things that we know that can happen on Grand Bahama and make them happen,” he said.
The new President and his board will first move to form committees. Knowles said, “the challenge will be to get our charter and our mission for the year sorted out, develop our goals, create the committees and appoint the necessary chairs and vice chairs of each of the committees. In the Chamber committees is where the work get done and so its absolutely important that we get committees started a quickly as possible.”
The new president is an engineer and businessman who also previously served as first vice president.
