The Member Of Parliament for North Abaco, the Hon. Kirk Cornish delivered his contribution to the 2025-2026 budget debate in the House Of Assembly on Thursday.
Cornish highlighted projects and initiatives ongoing in his constituency. He told Parliamentarians, “through the Ministry of Housing have received, not are expecting, have received keys to their homes under the rent to own and mortgage initiatives. These programs is more than policies, they are dreams fulfilled for families who now know the pride of ownership.”
The North Abaco MP informed that the Urban Renewal Authority Small Home Repair Program continues throughout Abaco. He said the program is “prioritizing those most in need – our seniors, single mothers and vulnerable families – restoring dignity one home at a time.”
Cornish also commended the government for its commitment to disaster preparedness. “I’m especially proud and excited about the near completion of DRM Hurricane Shelter in Central Pines. This modern multipurpose facility will serve not only as a refuge in times of disaster but as a symbol of resilience and forward thinking preparedness.”
Cornish also foreshadowed the construction of another hurricane shelter in Fox Town.
