Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Northern Bahamas, Shanta Knowles recently commended officers in her division for their crime reduction efforts.
Knowles said, “for the year, in Northern Bahamas only, we’ve recovered 32 firearms and just over sixteen thousand rounds of ammunition and we have put thirty five persons before courts.”
The Assistant Commissioner noted the challenges preventing weapons entering the country through the northern Bahamas. She also highlighted the efforts of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marine Division and its partner agencies. “My marine section along with the marine section from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and Customs continuously patrol the canals and the outskirts of our islands hoping that we can prevent these kinds of things from entering our island certainly entering our country.”
