Minister of the Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin traveled to Botswana this week as part of a delegation led by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis.
In September 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish bilateral political consultation was signed between The Bahamas and the Republic of Botswana while President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his delegation were in the country on an official visit.
Speaking on the opportunity to build on the relationship between the two countries Hanna Martin said, “we’re looking now to see what are the addition pieces that have to be put in place to execute, in a more practical way, the contents of that MOU. I just want to say, I just think all in all, when you look at the history of nations that the relationship between African states and Caribbean states is very important because, truthfully, we are a product originally of the continent. Our history has been a bit different, a lot more complication but I think that this reaching out and this embracing, of handing hands is very important as we move forward particularly when there are a number of issues that impact us that we can find common ground and solidarity.”
