Prime Minister and Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader, the Hon. Philip Davis was in Grand Bahama over the weekend where he was asked about the naming of PLP candidates for the next general election and other party issues.
In recent months the PLP has held a series of rallies dubbed the Link-Up which Mr. Davis said will soon move to Grand Bahama. He told reporters, “since I’ve been here for the last couple hours I’ve been hearing about a Link-Up in Grand Bahama. They could look forward to one shortly after the by-election. Our energy now is focused on winning that seat and we don’t want to be distracted at this moment. So shortly after the 24th of November you can look forward to a Link-Up in Grand Bahama.”
When asked about the naming of candidates for the isaldnMr. Davis said, “we are talking about it now. When we reach the stage where we come into Grand Bahama and the selection will be done here. I looking to do it before the middle of December.”
The Prime Minister also commented on speculation that the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency will be split by the Boundaries Commission. He confirmed that there has been talk about it and that he is listening.
To date the PLP has ratified fourteen candidates for the next general election. The Coalition of Independents has announced more than twenty candidates and the Free National Movement has announced twenty four candidates.
