Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. Philip Davis was questioned on the amount of government arrears on Monday. This came after the mid-year budget statement was read by Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Hon. Leon Lundy in the House of Assembly last Wednesday.
Lundy told Parliamentarians that the government has a deficit of $342.4 million equivalent to 2.1% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product). He said it represented an improvement of the same period last year when the deficit was $367.7 million or 2.3% of GDP.
While speaking to reporters at the Vinspen Meadows housing project Prime Minister Davis invited naysayers to examine what international ratings agencies have said about his administration’s management of the economy. He said, “we are satisfied in our management and we are not alarmed at all by what our half term results are.”
