PMH Rises to the Challenge as COVID-19 Cases Increase

473

The Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) has adapted to the influx of COVID-19 positive and non-Covid patients seeking care at the institution. The clinical, support and administrative teams have risen to the challenge and are continuing to provide quality care despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic.

As a result of adjustments made the number of patients awaiting admission has been reduced and Outpatient Services continue via a hybrid combination of Telehealth and reduced face to face appointments. Patients in need of appointments or seeking to confirm/reschedule appointments should WhatsApp a copy of their referral to the PMH Registration and Scheduling Unit at 808.9972.

The Emergency Department remains restricted to emergency cases only including major accidents, strokes, heart attacks, trauma with major bleeding, loss of consciousness, and difficulty breathing. Persons seeking care but not experiencing a medical emergency should visit their primary physician or a community clinic.

Visitation remains limited to one (1) visitor at the patient’s bedside for a duration of fifteen (15) minutes.

The Authority requests that the public extend patience at this time as the Princess Margaret Hospital is doing everything possible to manage the impact of the increase in COVID-19 infections. The public is encouraged to follow all advisories and updates from the Ministry of Health & Wellness and the Public Hospitals Authority for further information regarding hospital services.
