Police are investigating the apparent drowning of a 4 year old girl on the island of Abaco over the weekend.

Police Press Liaison Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Stephen Rolle gave an account of the incident to ZNS News.  He said, “sometime on Saturday the 18th of November, 2023, the police in Abaco received information that a female toddler while at a gated community in the southern Abaco district.  She wondered off from her mother…she was found unconscious on the beach.  The victim, she was retrieved by bystanders or actually individuals who were in the area who assisted with CPR. She was immediately transferred to the Marsh Harbour Clinic, where she was seen and examined by a doctor, where she showed no signs of life and she was pronounced deceased.”

The Assistant Superintendent advised parents to bear in mind when children are around water to pay specific attention to young children to avoid these types of incidents.
