President of the Grand Bahama Port Authority is speaking out on the dilapidated buildings on the island and how the Port plans to address the issue.
Ian Rolle told ZNS News in an exclusive interview that the answer is not simple but headway is being made. “For buildings that are still structurally sound you cannot go there and even demolish those site. It would be against the law to do such a thing. So you have to work with those owners. Hopefully the put monies into the buildings structure or they themselves demolish it. At the same time you want to encourage the owners to look at opportunities that would present itself to them.”
Rolle says amendments have been advanced to the government for consideration that would empower the Grand Bahama Port Authority to better address this issue.
