Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings visited the scenes of two traffic fatalities on the island of Eleuthera over the weekend. While there, Skippings took the opportunity to warn motorists of the Force zero tolerance to traffic infractions.
She said, “this is the new year, there’s a zero tolerance approach to all crime. And so persons who are driving in excess of the speed limit or they are breaking any infraction of the Road Traffic Act we are going to ticket you and you are going to have to pay those fines. We will not relent. We will place you before the court for those minor traffic infractions.”
The Chief Superintendent explained, “stopping in obedience to the red traffic light, parking in no parking zones, parking in loading zones, having windows that are non transparent, we are going to issue you with the citation and you will be made pay those citations. You may have family on the force, that’s fine. We will not, you will pay those hefty fines. And so if you don’t want to pay those hefty fines make the necessary adjustments.”
