Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, the Hon. Myles K. LaRoda, attending the opening Roundtable of the 18th Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP 18) underway at United Nations Headquarters, New York. Roundtable I was one of two Roundtables The Bahamas’ delegation attended Wednesday (June 11). It was held under the theme: “Empowering Persons with Disabilities and enhancing social development policies through innovative Financing.” COSP 18 got underway Tuesday (June 10, 2025) at United Nations Headquarters. The Conference concludes June 12. Minister LaRoda was accompanied by Under Secretary in the Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, Mrs. Donette Williamson, and Chairperson of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), Ms. Nalini Bethel (seated in background). Mr. John Nixon, Consultant, Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting; Mr. Townsley Roberts, Deputy Executive Secretary, Secretariat of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, and Mr. Jeron O’Brien, Assistant Counsel, Office of the Attorney General also accompanied Minister LaRoda.
