The Members of Parliament for Fort Charlotte and South Beach both held back to school events in their respective constituencies over the weekend.

South Beach representative, the Hon. Bacchus Rolle said, “we want to send our children back to the classroom covered with prayer. They’re going into some very strange environments, sometimes some of them are going for the first time, we want to cover our children in prayer first, right, and then we’ll give back the bags.”

On why these types of events are important the Hon. Alfred Sears said, “we love these young people, that we expect great things from them. So this is a very small gesture of encouragement and also demonstrating that it takes a village to raise children. We’re a part of that village in terms of encouraging, nourishing, nurturing and inspiring.”

Over 1700 bags were distributed at the events combined. Students were also prayed for and treated to food, drinks and games.
