Samaritan’s Purse, Setting Up the Tent Hospital at PMH

Samaritan’s Purse will work with PMH clinical staff to provide care to coronavirus positive patients. Clinical services are tentatively set to begin on Monday, October 19, for a period of three to six weeks, after which a transition from Samaritan’s Purse personnel to PMH clinical staff will occur.

Request for the Immediate Collection of Deceased Persons from PMH

The PHA is doing all within its capacity to facilitate the holding of unclaimed bodies, bodies that are pending release, and bodies that are under investigation by the Coroner. The Morgue at PMH has an excess of over 150 bodies in storage, well beyond its maximum capacity of sixty-six (66) bodies.

$10 Million Allocated for Princess Margaret Hospital Renovations

Minister of Health the Hon. Renward Wells said it is a well-known fact that proper infrastructure in a Health system improves effectiveness, safety, timeliness, patient-centeredness, access, and efficiency. “Inadequacies in any health system infrastructure can limit access and contribute to poor quality of care and outcomes, particularly among vulnerable population groups,” Minister Wells stated at the COVID-19 Update Press Conference at the Ministry of Health, Friday, August 28, 2020.

Health Minister Provides Update on Medical Surgical Ward II at PMH

Minister of Health the Hon. Dr. Duane Sands provided an update regarding the Medical Surgical Ward II at Princess Margaret Hospital, which was declared compromised on discovery of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case on the ward. “Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre referred a patient from the Robert Smith Unit to PMH for further medical management on the April 5th, 2020,” Dr. Sands explained during a COVID-19 Update press conference at the Ministry of Health, Thursday, April 23, 2020.
