A journey that began on 12 January 1987 for Commodore Raymond King when he enlisted in the R.B.D.F as a Marine Recruit, continued on Thursday when he was officially designated the highest office within the organization, which took effect 15 April, 2020. At the Change of Command Ceremony at the Defence Force Base, Commodore King received his Instrument of Apparatus from the Governor General, His Excellency The Most Honorable Cornelieus Smith. He succeeds Commodore Tellis Bethel, and now becomes the eighth person to attain the rank of Commodore and being appointed the Commander Defence Force.
In a somber gathering at the Defence Force Base this morning, four marines killed in action 40 years ago were remembered during a wreath laying ceremony in commemoration of the bombing and sinking of HMBS Flamingo on May 10, 1980. The significance of the day soaked through like the rainstorms that ensued as it happened.

Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force brought 10 foreign fishermen into the Defence Force Base Sunday evening after their vessel was apprehended in the Ragged Island chain on Friday. While on routine Patrol, HMBS CASCARILLA, under the command of Sub Lieutenant Owen Sands boarded a Bahamian registered vessel off Water Cay, in the vicinity of a ragged Island Chain.
