Atlantis Stalls Opening

The Atlantis Resort will delay it's opening until the 30th of July. Prime Minister, the Most Honorable Dr. Hubert Minnis made the announcement in Parliament this afternoon after speaking with resort executives.

PLP Senators Blasts Budget

Mincing no words, Opposition Senator Michael Darville dismissed the government’s proposed fiscal plan as one that lacks both vision and creativity. Taking his party’s lead in contributing to the debate on the 2020/2021 Budget in the Upper Chamber, Dr Darville charged that in order to reduce public debate, the government must not only find ways to reduce expenditure and at the same time boost revenue.

Arawak Cay Prepares for Reopening

Strict social distancing protocols are to be implemented at popular cultural site Arawak Cay as reopening nears. According to President of Arawak Cay Conch Fish Food Vendors Association, Rodney Russell this includes not allowing customers inside.

Straw Market To Be Reconfigured

The straw market will be reconfigured as the tourism sector revamps coming out of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Immediate Past President of the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hotel Operations at Atlantis, Stuart Bowe said there is a “very good plan,” to make this happen.

Tourism Phased Reopening

Tourism officials are taking a phased approach to reopening that crucial sector of the economy. While the prime minister has given the go ahead for commercial flights to begin July 1, the plan is for the country’s borders to do a test run two weeks earlier.
