The Government of The Bahamas is pleased to announce that His Majesty King Charles III, Head of State of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, will undertake an official Royal Visit to The Bahamas from Tuesday, 27 October to Thursday, 29 October 2026.
The visit will take place ahead of His Majesty’s attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda and will form part of Their Majesties’ wider Autumn Tour.
His Majesty’s three-day visit will provide an opportunity to celebrate the longstanding and enduring relationship between The Bahamas and the Crown, while highlighting areas of shared importance to the future of The Bahamas and the wider Commonwealth. The programme will place particular emphasis on young people, sport, environmental sustainability, maritime security, Bahamian communities and culture.
Youth and Sport
His Majesty’s programme in The Bahamas will begin with attendance at a Youth Rally at Clifford Park, where he will witness performances and presentations by young Bahamians. The event will highlight the energy, creativity and potential of the next generation and the important role of young people in shaping the future of The Bahamas and the Commonwealth.
More than 60 per cent of the Commonwealth’s population is under the age of 30. His Majesty previously visited Clifford Park as the then Prince of Wales, when he attended The Bahamas’ Independence celebrations in 1973.
During the visit, His Majesty will also attend an event highlighting the role of sport in empowering young people and fostering discipline, leadership and opportunity.
Nature and Sustainability
His Majesty will visit a significant nature site in New Providence to learn about conservation initiatives that are protecting wildlife and restoring an important natural habitat. The visit will showcase the importance of environmental stewardship and the work being undertaken to restore and preserve The Bahamas’ unique natural environment for future generations.
Defence and Maritime Security
At the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Coral Harbour Base, His Majesty will learn more about the vital work of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force in protecting The Bahamas’ maritime borders and national interests.
The programme will also highlight the Force’s responsibilities in search and rescue, disaster response and other operations that contribute to the safety and security of the Bahamian people.
Communities and Culture
In Parliament Square, His Majesty will meet representatives of Bahamian communities from across the Family Islands and have an opportunity to experience the rich cultural traditions that form an integral part of national life.
His Majesty will also witness a traditional Junkanoo parade along Bay Street, celebrating one of the most distinctive and vibrant expressions of Bahamian culture.
Following engagements with the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Most Honorable Cynthia Pratt, and the Prime Minister, the Most Honorable Philip Davis, His Majesty will attend a Garden Reception at Government House with representatives from communities and sectors across The Bahamas.
The Garden Reception will conclude His Majesty’s official programme in The Bahamas.
