Member of Parliament for East Grand Bahama and Shadow Minister of Finance, the Hon. Kwasi Thompson addressed the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) increased growth projection for the Bahamian economy on Wednesday.
Fielding questions from reporters outside of the House Of Assembly Thompson said, “I am pleased that we were not downgraded but I am not satisfied because we need to have more economic growth. We need to have economic growth that is far higher than 1.8%. We need it because you have those persons who are coming out of school, we need it also to continue to bring the unemployment level down, we need it to bring the cost of living down. So we cannot be satisfied with 1.8% growth.”
