On Thursday, 2nd January, three Haitian nationals were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court #9 before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley, where they faced charges of overstaying and were subsequently convicted.
Yvens Gazena (M) and Alain Lemour (M) were each fined $1,500.00 or sentenced to serve six (6) months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS).
Cassandra Valde (F) was fined $750.00 or sentenced to serve three (3) months at BDOCS. Upon payment of all fines or completion of their sentences, all three individuals will be handed over to the Department of Immigration for deportation. The public is reminded that the Department remains committed to enforcing the country’s Statute Laws and ensuring compliance.
