Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Dr. Raymond King gave an update on the training underway for officers set for deployment to the Republic of Haiti.
King said, “we’ve ramped up our training in terms of maritime security, in terms of the protection of the northern coast of Haiti, the Windward passage and also providing training for the Haitian National Police officers who are attached to the Coast Guard units. And so for the Royal Bahamas Defence Force its training for their Coast Guard personnel. It’s maritime security with probably some level of littoral patrols to defend our positions but we’re looking at the northern coast of Haiti which serves the national interests of both countries.”
The government of The Bahamas has committed 150 officers for a multinational peacekeeping mission in the Republic Of Haiti.
