A ceremony was held at the University of The Bahamas (UB) to launch the celebration of its golden jubilee. Governor General, Her Excellency Cynthia Pratt along with Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis, Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin and other government officials were in attendance.
Chairperson of the UB Board of Trustees, Allyson Maynard Gibson told the audience, “this moment beacons us to activate unparalleled paradigm shifts in our thinking, our action and our vision.”
The keynote address was delivered by Prime Minister Davis who said, “so today we celebrate fifty years of this esteemed institution recognizing its great value to building and defining our nationhood. And we also acknowledge the powerful force of change that the university can be for the next fifty years and beyond.”
Celebrations of the milestone will continue throughout the year.
