A man lost his life in an industrial accident that occurred at the Freeport Container Port on Boxing Day. The man, identified as Anderson Adderley, 26, fell from a crane while carrying out routine checks and was found unresponsive.
Officer In Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department, Superintendent Nicholas Johnson provided details of the incident. He said, “on arrival at the Container Port we were directed into the area of the stack trailers where they confirmed the information of an adult male who was found on the ground with serious injuries to the body. EMS quickly rendered medical assistance to the male. However, he was unresponsive.”
The Freeport Container Port released a statement confirming the fatal incident and the active police investigation with support from Container Port security and safety teams.
Condolences were also sent by the International Longshoremen’s Association. The release said, “his passing is a devastating reminder of the inherent dangers faced by longshore workers, often in the early morning hours, under difficult conditions, and far from public view, to keep global commerce moving.”
The statement went on to say that, “as the investigation continues, it is imperative that all facts be fully examined and that every possible lesson be learned.”
According to police their investigation is ongoing and they being assisted by a number of witnesses.
