Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Keith Bell gave an update on the government’s housing projects on the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco.
Bell told ZNS News, “we have amplified our efforts in Abaco, not just Abaco but also in Grand Bahama. There’s Central Pines, there are a number of homes that we’re going to be handing over the keys very soon. There are a number of initiatives. We have purchased the land, we’re developing the infrastructure and as you know, when we talk about developing subdivisions, particularly where we want to make it affordable, the most expensive thing is infrastructure. This is putting down the water mains, thee sewer lines and of course electricity. And so we have several subdivisions in Abaco that we’re going to continue to develop as well as we’re looking to roll out several new subdivisions for the residents.”
The Minister continued saying, “there are homes that are already completed and so they’re are going to be rolled out. We’re not quite simply rolling out new homes but we’re also continuing to develop the subdivisions which has infrastructure and so we’re continuing with our project to build new homes as well as we’re looking to put in infrastructure and dividing the properties in other areas as well in Abaco.”
