The IAAF World Relays are scheduled to be held in The Bahamas in early May. Chairman of World Athletics Association Relays Bahamas, Dr. Danny Johnson spoke about the planning process while attending the New Year’s Day Junkanoo Parade.
Johnson said, “the LOCs are working well. You see the stadium repairs are ongoing. The new track gets started on January 8th, that’s thee end of this week. The teams come in. We’re starting our national sports academy and everyone is ready to roll.”
Also commenting on the upcoming relays was Chairman of the Bahamas Association of Athletics Association President, Drameco Archer who also serves as Chief Executive Officer for the local organizing committee. He said, “I think its an opportunity for us as Bahamians to really showcase all aspects of The Bahamas culturally, musically. And I think people are going to come here to really have a good time in The Bahamas.”
