Two men lost their lives in a triple shooting on Wednesday in the Yellow Elder Gardens area. One of the victims died on the scene while the other man succumbed in the parking lot of the Grove Police Station on Baillou Hill Road. The third victim was taken to hospital.
Police Press Liaison Officer, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings was on the scene of the incident where she briefed members of the press. ”A group of males were sitting on a wall when a dark coloured Japanese vehicle traveled west and passed them on the wall. Shortly thereafter the vehicle turned around and proceeded in an easterly direction. Two males emerged from that vehicle, there was an exchange of gunfire between the occupants of the vehicle and the males on the wall.”
The Member of Parliament for Mount Moriah, the Hon. McKell Bonamy was also on the scene. Though noticeably emotional about the ordeal, he told reporters, “this is a tough pill to swallow because death is final and there’s no coming back from death. I’ve been in this community for more than ten years, twelve years. I know Chareeve King. He’s a government worker. I know Rick as well and I watch both of them grow up in this community. And Chareeve is like a son to me and Rick is like my younger brother.”
Footage of the violent incident was circulated on social media.
