According to the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the government has established a crime committee to assist in crime prevention among young people.
The Hon. Mario Bowleg told ZNS News, “we’ve been meeting on a weekly basis and putting programs together. The police itself and Urban Renewals has its own programs that we believe is impacting the change but if you look at most recently they have been going through the areas and moving derelict vehicles where we’ve discovered that a lot of weapons and drugs are being hid and clearing down bushes, pushing down some old buildings that cause these things to develop themselves as it relates to crime. And of course, you know, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture we have now just launched a all boys program because we understand that at risk is really the young men and we need to pay attention to our young men.”
