The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas (BCB) held an awards ceremony on Thursday to recognize the work of outstanding staff members.

At the event BCB Acting General Manager Andrew Burrows told staff members and invited guests, “I know that this was going to be the easiest invitation for a meeting in this room.” He went on saying, “I want to welcome you to what we hope will be a continuing annual event, our staff recognition ceremony. This is a little different from what we would have done in the past. We had one last year but this is expanded to include additional recognition for people who may not have qualified to be employee of the quarter or employee of the year but certainly are out there doing their best for the success of the Corporation. So we will recognize those people as well.”

Also addressing attendees at the ceremony was BCB Executive Chairman Mr. Picewell Forbes. He said, “to those who don’t get that award today be comforted like whenever I got some blows especially in the political area, Mr. Christie used to walk up to you and say my boy seven times down eight times up. Its not that bad, everyone is a winner, all you are winners.”

The rising star award was given to Ms. Davina Johnson, Laticia Rolle and Thaddeus Cornish. Among those given the shining star award was veteran cameraman, Roscoe Gibson. IT Manager Jason Saunders was named employee of the year. Responding to his win Saunders said, “hard work means putting your best foot forward and giving it your all. And with this award I would say that it really paid off.”
