Acting Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party, the Hon. Chester Cooper was the guest speaker at a meeting of the National Progressive Institute on the island of Grand Bahama recently.
Cooper assured the group of the government’s commitment to continued progress on Grand Bahama. He said, “we recognize that, yes, there is more to be done. We’ve also restored essential government services including the police station, the administrator and local government, NIB, social services.”
Cooper who also serves as the Minister of Tourism, Investment and Aviation appealed to the group to tell their relatives who have left the island to come back home. He said, “now I could bring the tourists and we’re doing that but you gatta create the product and the opportunity for them to spend.”
The Minister said there should be $24 million in the Tourism Development Fund which will be used to empower Bahamians.
