A symposium for stakeholders in the aviation industry was held at the Baha Mar Resort on Monday under that theme, ‘2024 Our Year Of Innovation, Acceleration and Execution’. The aim of the quarterly held meeting was to advance the National Aviation Strategic Plan.
Deputy Director General of Tourism and Director of Aviation, Dr. Kenneth Romer spoke with reporters on the sidelines of the event. He said, “what we thought it prudent to do was take bite size portions of that plan and give a focus to 2024. And so it speaks again about what we seek to achieve, actionable items, this year, that we should be held collectively accountable for. We spoke about how do what improve airport infrastructure. You will see that the government has really given some attention on how we address the state of our airport infrastructure, this year, the airport that have been prioritized, again, for development. But we spoke at length about the development of human capital. This has been a personal passion of mine. I believe that people more than projects will drive our success this year.”
Dr. Romer said the group also spoke about strategic partnerships. “How do we look at those who would have been retired? How do we bring them back to mentor the new generation of aviation stakeholders? How do we really drive greater accountability and financial resilience? Developing sound business plans for all of our aviation agencies. So this was really a coming together of minds. It was not haphazard. This is the unveiling of a plan but our stakeholders got together and collectively we contributed towards what this plan looks like.”
