On Tuesday a press conference was held at police headquarters where it was revealed that the headquarters of the Bahamas Red Cross Society was robbed of approximately $77,000 in equipment. On Wednesday representatives of the Bahamar Resort presented the Red Cross with a $100,000 donation.

Bahamar Senior Vice President Of External and Government Affairs Robert Sands was at the presentation and said, “this donation, this afternoon, is a demonstration of our commitment and support at a crucial time to the organization that is vital to our community and to the integral part it plays in providing a wide range of assistance to those in need.”

Bahamas Red Cross Director General Alicia Pinder called the donation overwhelming and said it was an answer to prayer.

President of the Bahamas Red Cross Society Edison Sumner accepted on behalf of the non-profit organization. Sumner says measures are being taken to safeguard the area that was vandalized and to mitigate against such incidents happening in the future.
