Officials of The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS) announced the upcoming British Overseas Territories and Global Chaplains Alliance Chaplains Conference to be hosted by their Chaplain’s Unit in October, under the theme, ‘Chaplains With A Purpose.’ The announcement was made at a press conference, September 28, 2026 in the Commissioner’s Conference Room.
The conference is intended to bring together the likes of chaplains, caregivers, guardians, counselors, pastors, volunteers and ministry personnel from The Bahamas and numerous countries across the globe to create opportunities, alliances and exchanges of information in chaplaincy and caregiving.
The United Kingdom, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States of America, Canada, Jamaica, British Virgin Islands and Argentina are some of the countries that will participate in this upcoming mega conference here in The Bahamas.
Though the BDCS Chaplaincy Unit will host this major summit, it will not be limited to prison chaplaincy alone. Local and International Law Enforcement, Government, Healthcare, Education, Church and Ministry, Counseling and Caregiver officials and professionals will also be in attendance as active participants.
The conference provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practice in correctional ministry.
The Rt. Hon. Dr. William Thompson, Chaplain of the BDCS, remarked that the anticipated conference will comprise an historic event for the above-mentioned professionals and officials here in The Bahamas.
A highly notable part of the conference will be the organizing and establishing of a Bahamian chapter of The Global Chaplain Alliance. This will make The Bahamas the 18th country and chapter to be established with the Global Chaplain Alliance.
The conference is scheduled to commence Monday, October 25th through Friday, October 30th, 2026. It is to be held at Faith United Baptist Church Auditorium, Faith Way and Baillou Hill Road South.
Sessions will be broken into morning 9a.m. to 1p.m., and evening 5 to 9p.m.
