Trade Commission Chairman, Sen. Hon. Barry Griffin has successfully negotiated changes at the Caribbean – EU (European Union) Parliamentary Assembly.
Griffin spoke with ZNS News on Tuesday about the significance of the amendments. He said, “we discussed a recommendation that would be adopted by the European Union and The Bahamas advocated for changes that would advocate the Bahamian private sector and Bahamian people at large. In particular, we wanted greater recognition for trade in services which is the principle part of our economy. We don’t produce much physical goods. And so recognition of trade in services would be paramount for The Bahamas so that our professionals and businesses that provide services whether it’s tourism services, professional services, creative services, digital services that we have better market access to the European Union.”
