Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper assured travelers that pre-clearances services was still operational at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) on Monday. His comments came after the US Department of Homeland Security reversed its decision to suspend global entry and other services due to a partial government shutdown.
Cooper told ZNS News, “the pre-clearance is in place. There’s never been any attempt to suspend that. There are apparently issues going on in the US where there partial government shutdown etc. that has implications for funding of these projects abroad and therefore they have had to scale back in some countries. We have a great partnership with the USA. Most of our tourist come from USA. We share a border with them. We actively collaborate on law enforcement and other issues and we anticipate that this relationship will continue to be positive.”
The Minister reiterated that pre-clearance at the LPIA is operating normally.
