Officials of Concord Wilshire released a statement on Monday refuting a report carried by Eye Witness News that its deal with the government for the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Resort property in Grand Bahama is in jeopardy.
In the statement Lucayan Resort, Concord Wilshire Group CEO, Richard Bosworth said, “we want to be very clear: the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Resort is moving forward.”
Bosworth further stated, “Reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate and misleading. Concord Wilshire remains fully committed to this project and to our partnership with the Government of The Bahamas.”
The statement also foreshadowed the formal commencement of development and construction activities in the next two weeks. These include two major cruise line destination resorts and the official start of demolition and preparatory construction works.
During his presentation at the Grand Bahama Business Outlook event earlier in February, Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the project. He said, “in May 2025, heads of agreement was signed with Concord Wilshire Group. Since that the government and developer have been working to secure the right branding partners and to remediate serious mold issues that could have compromised the entire transaction. Our aim, though, is a functioning and viable resort that creates jobs and confidence and we will deliver.”
The remaining employees of the resort are to be made redundant and benefits issued by this Friday.
