The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association [BHTA] will meet with officials of Bahamas Power and Light after their recent announcement of an increase in fuel surcharge.
BHTA President, Robert ‘Sandy’ Sands is expressing concern of the move and its impact on tourism industry stakeholders. He told ZNS News, “we talked about he progress in terms of alternative energy formats etc. We talked about the opportunities for looking at a number of the variables that impact the cost of electricity to our number of properties such as the peak demand charge and also the fuel surcharge. And then we also spoke about, or will be being about the reliability, certainly within family island properties etc. going forward.”
