The President of Botswana is currently in The Bahamas on a state visit.  While here Mokgweetsi Masisi gave a public lecture at the University of The Bahamas.

In his presentation, President Masisi told attendees, “I am here to strengthen relations with the government and the people of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and particularly the UB and accede to the request as presented by the President.  And perhaps even dear instruct our Minister of Education and skills development to be agreeable to any requests within limit of affordability of scholarships being granted to students of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas including but not limited to doctoral level training.”

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of The Bahamas Allyson Maynard Gibson was in attendance at the lecture.  During her remarks she suggested that “both UBs agree expeditiously to do two things, one, to agree an MOU for mutual cooperation and two, to implement semesters abroad and exchange programs for our young people.”
