Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate, Sen. Hon. Elsworth Johnson questioned the government’s efforts to decrease the cost of living while making his contribution to the 2026/2027 budget debate in the Senate on Wednesday.
Johnson also called for electoral and campaign finance reform. He told senators, “as we prepare for our present, future and our legacy we have to have the guts or the testicular fortitude to do what is necessary and that is to put in place a supervisory group to govern our electoral process. Also, we must not just take seriously, we must implement campaign finance reform. It is absolutely important for us as we move ahead.”
