A 46 year old man has been arrested in connection with the hit and run death of a man in his thirties.
Officer in Charge of the Grand Bahama Traffic Division, Superintendent Christopher Farquharson provided an update on the investigation on Wednesday. He told reporters, “on Tuesday, 23rd of June at about 8:30pm a traffic accident occurred on Royal Palm Way, Grand Bahama. This accident involved a pedestrian and a black color SUV vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital by EMS where he received medical attention and later succumbed to his injuries.”
Farquharson went further stating, “the male received serious injuries about the body including the head. The driver of that motor vehicle fled the scene of this accident prior to the arrival of the police.”
Based on information received police officers located the vehicle suspected to be involved in the incident while on patrol. According to Superintendent Farquharson officers observed damage to the vehicle and alerted the driver who was asleep. He said, “acting on information officers was able to recover this suspected vehicle at a nearby residence. This vehicle was found to have extensive damage to the front end and including the windshield. Officers acting on further information was able to take into custody a male, aged 46 years, who is actively assisting us in this investigation.”
