CARIFTA athletes welcomed home – GB

Minister for Grand Bahama, Hon. Ginger Moxey (group photo, centre) was at the Grand Bahama International Airport on Thursday morning (April 21, 2022) to welcome back home athletes from Grand Bahama who were a part of the 2022 CARIFTA Track and Field team, which recently competed in Kingston, Jamaica. The Bahamas finished second overall in the competition behind Jamaica, with 17 medals – four gold, six silver and seven bronze medals. There were some national and championship performances from the 54-member Bahamian team, including record breaking performances from Keyshawn Strachan (U-20 Boys javelin), Dior-Rae Scott (U-17 Girls javelin), Brenden Vanderpool (U-20 Boys pole vault) and Curtis Mitchell (U-20 Boys 5,000m). Joining Minister Moxey at the airport to greet Grand Bahamian track and field athletes back home was Deputy Director for Youth, Sports and Culture (Northern Bahamas), Mr. Norris Bain (third left).
