The Bahamas National Statistical Institute (BNSI) has completed the preliminary results of the 2022 census.

Minister of Economic Affairs, Sen. Hon. Michael Halkitis commented on the efforts of the BNSI. He said, “they wanted to make sure that rather than taking a rushed approach, they wanted to make sure that the data that they produce is useful and has integrity and can be relied upon. And so they did that and it got the approval of the World Statistics and the professionals in The Bahamas. As time goes forward you’ll see some highlights coming out about what the numbers actually say.”

According to the BNSI, the population of the country currently stands at 399,314, an increase of 13.6%. There are 192,544 men and 206,770 women in The Bahamas.
