The Member of Parliament for Central and South Abaco, the Hon. John Pinder III delivered his contribution to the 2023/24 budget in the House of Assembly on Monday.
Pinder spoke out about the reliability of electricity on the island. He told Parliamentarians, “BPL needs to decentralize their management and give more of the authority to the general managers in the islands. Not only more authority more human capital and more financial resources. This past, months now, but I’ll speak about this past week, our power has been on less that a quarter, less than thirty percent of the time. Our islands are packed. We have tourism bidding demand is high yet the power is not only not steady and off. But when it comes on it comes right back off immediately. Food is being spoilt, appliances are being lost, revenue is being lost.”
