Member of Parliament for Central Grand Bahama, the Hon. Iram Lewis shared his optimism about the island’s economy on Tuesday. His comments come days after a heads of agreement was signed for the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Hotel.
Lewis told ZNS News that progress is bigger than politics. He said, “you need to know when to put down your political tool, when to put down your battle ax. You need to know when there’s something bigger than politics and this is a move that is much bigger than politics. And you have to understand how economies work. You have to understand how communities work, how the world work.”
The Central Grand Bahama MP also spoke about the various projects underway on the island. “The $600 million by the Shipyard, the renewable energy plant by the YMCA and also down in Willington Pinder Estates, we have the Carnival Cruise Port, like you said, the heads of agreement just signed, we have the hospital, the community clinic under construction. If you look around the island there’s a lot of construction going on, a lot of ground being cleared. I see a lot of buildings coming out of the ground so that’s a sign of things to come.”
Lewis urged people to put aside their political tools aside and come together for the rebuilding of Grand Bahama.
