Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation weighed in on a boating accident that occurred near Treasure Cay, Abaco over the weekend.
Cooper said, “there have been a few incidences across The Bahamas and we anticipate that during boating seasons accidents sometimes do happen. When they occur the Ministry of Tourism goes in overdrive to support the families, to support the victims. Safety, of course, is our ultimate priority. Where there is an incident we kick in in a very much supporting role, supporting law enforcement but most importantly supporting the families.”
The tourism minister said The Bahamas is generally a safe place to visit and operate. “We attract more than 11 million guests to our shores and we regret when there is an incident impacting one of them. One is too many but when we attract 12 million, as we anticipate we will do this year, we hope and pray for the best for all of our guest as it relates to accidents whether by air, road or sea.”
Three men were injured in Sunday’s accident.
