Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs, the Hon. Clay Sweeting gave an update on road works to be carried out in eastern New Providence this week.
Sweeting informed ZNS News of a change in the time that road works would be conducted due to the outcry of residents and business owners in the area of Johnson Road east to the Fox Hill Roundabout. He said, “we understand that this may be painful for a little while but in around two weeks you’ll have new paved road on Eastern Road and this is just a strategic approach to paving a lot of roads in New Providence. We announced that we will be paving over fifty miles of road this year, the following year and the year after that. So this is a $98 million project throughout New Providence.”
Minister Sweeting initially announced the road works while appearing at a press briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister in December.
