Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technology, the Hon. Chester Cooper responded to claims made by Bahamas Union of Teachers President, Belinda Wilson that the government abandoned contract negotiations with the union .
Cooper spoke with reporters while assessing the progress of school repairs on Thursday afternoon. He said, “the government continues to be at the table. We have a negotiation team led by Bernard Evans and Father James Palacious. The are talking directly with the union president and her team of negotiators. I don’t make it a habit of negotiating in the press and therefore, I don’t have any discussion on any of the details. We look forward to a briefing in the coming days from our negotiating team and we are hopeful that before long we’re able to put that negotiation behind us.”
