The new school year is underway and while there were some challenges at the beginning of the term, Minister of Education, the Hon. Jeffrey Lloyd says those issues have been ironed out.

He says currently, preparations are in the pipeline for the return to face-to-face instruction at public schools here in New Providence and in Abaco.

“It would appear that it’s going to be a hybrid in most instances because most of our school populations are very large and they cannot be all accommodated on the various campuses.

We hoped that we would be able to begin face-to-face.

The education minister says face to face instruction is expected to begin on February 1st.

“When we came to office in 2017 some 500 plus students were in the home-schooling environment today it is 2500 and even more joining every day for any number of reasons.

“There are students who’s health conditions do not permit them, in this environment, to go back to school either because they feel more safe; or they feel more accommodated in the home environment; or their parents are able to provide the instructions or with others provide instructions then they are choosing that route” he said.
